i think thats what its called.. i have a blog that has been on number 1 position for a week now.. i was pretty much getting backlinks to it everyday but since yesterday it has fallen to page 3 for some kws and for some kw it os on page 4.
all of these used to be page 1.

so this is not sandboxing cause its still indexed.. so i think this must be the infamous google dance.

so what i want to know is what to do in such cases? should i continue building links like i used to or should i just let it be till it stabilizes?

How old is your blog?? If it is new, then YES the "honeymoon" period is probably what happened to your site. It now ranks naturally where it should after the initial boost new sites seem to get - pretty much happens to all new sites.

but this is a very inexact science remember.

everything that involves math has an exact solution. the same thing goes to google since their existence was based on math. they'll crush without math.

people who know(better to say discovered) even a tiny bit of their algorithm will just smile with what u just said. effects were caused by causes.

thx for the replies guys.. but my question remains.. should i continue with my backlinking or shud i give it a rest for about 10 days...

my fears being; if i continue to build backlinks in this period i may get sandboxed.. but if i do nothing i may fall even lower than page 5

My thoughts about this is to create another good backlinks in a site that is greatly related to your niche and has a high PR.

I do think of it as an exact science, since there's certain trends about the top sites for the keyword. OP, my advice is to give it a rest, then return after 10 days and build backlinks. Only through analysis of your competition like: Age, PR, Backlinks, Quality of Backlinks, On-page SEO, etc can you really determine your deficiencies and make this seo science more "exact".
