I've somehow roped myself into doing a website for someone. It started off by explaining how their on site SEO was terrible, and I can't believe they're charge £250 a month for it - 40% of the pages were images with text in them!

Anyway, what they want is a new website, with a shop element.
I've started using WordPress with the Avada frameworks, and the WooCommerce for the shop. Doing it this way keeps the cost down, as well as giving them the power to add new things into he site themselves.

My question here is, what would you think I'd a reasonable price for such a website.
Probably 20 'static' pages, and then the shop.

The next question is hosting. This is someone's business, so a decent fast host is required. It needs to be managed as well, since I don't want to be response for patching backups etc.
Would Hostgator be suitable? I fear they've become a bit slow lately.
How would you charge for the hosting. Just straight charge through, or +30% margin for example?

Don't work with Hostgator. Spare yourself. Do some research and you'll soon realize which web hosting providers to avoid. I'd ask between $200-$300 for the website, depending on how much you will spend on it. If you provide quality work, you can go as high as $500.
