A healthy sleep starts earlier and not just from a medical point of view.
When you are going to sleep earlier (at least for me), and you SLEEP those damn 8 hours properly, everything gets to be different.
I can write, play, do everything in a joyful way.
For me the perfect hour to go sleepin mode is 23 or 00(24).
I also do a lot of GYM so sleep is pretty much required to get the best outta my body.
Being a writer on the other hand, sleep is well effective upon my skills(I gotta say that what comes out of my hands is different when i'm properly rested)x2.
As for an advice: The doctors you consider useless, aren't exactly that way - They recommend a good sleep for a better life(And they ARE RIGHT)

I know a lot of people suggest the 7 ~ 8 hours sleep early but I just can't do it.
I've tried, a lot... but I always feel like I'm losing a lot of precious time by sleeping that much. I used to constantly sleep between 4 to 6 hours and while I wasn't always feeling 100%, I was okay with the fact that I got to sleep less, but do more of what I wanted.
It's just something that's in my head probably.. I dunno.
About the time I go to sleep, that usually happens at around 2 ~ 3 AM. I just can't sleep early xD

Since i live with my girlfriend it's stable schedule from 11pm - 7am
Before that it was all over the place, always changing can't keep this shit straight when I'm working on a stuff

@TheVigilanteAs I have talked earlier, it is at random times.
Sleep sex sleep sex. I don't remember time to be honest while I am in full mood.
You can get a sleep whenver you want but making mood to do something never comes so easily
