We love them and rub them on ourselves while we google ourselves when we are alone. Lol.
But, no. Here's what companies do when they get email submit leads.
Lets say they are just any old guy wanting to build a list.
Guy goes out and makes a landing page or a few landing pages, along with a database to hold all of the information in.
He pays a CPA Company $3 per lead, CPA Company pays $1.75 per lead.
CPA company makes $1.25 per lead, but "Guy" is only counting 1 in every 4 leads, meaning the tracking pixel will fire 1 in every 4 successful submits, so in the end, he will pay $3,000 for 4,000 leads, instead of $3,000 for 1,000 leads
He then can target them down to as targetted as he wishes on the second page(before the pixel fires on the second page submit)
He can target it from the basic contact info, all the way down to what brand of toilet paper the person uses, and if they wear boxers or briefs(for guys) etc.
Then if he want's he now has a SUPER targeted list.
If he had a big budget and got a few hundred thousand leads he can then do this.
Let's say he has a list targeted towards the New York Yankees baseball team. He can then send everyone thats into baseball a baseball CPA offer or product, or an offer specific to the NYY baseball team. After that, he can make some OKAY money off of them, then once he's used them to his satisfaction. He will sell them.
Now, do some math.
Let's say "Guy" has a fairly big budget of $500,000
He does the 1 out of 4 fires for the tracking pixel, so he gets 4,000,000 leads for $500,000 if the price is $2.50 to the cpa company.
Now, those 4,000,000 leads
Let's say this
250,000 are Apple fans
250,000 are WoW fans
250,000 are Movie buffs
250,000 are PS3 Action game fans
250,000 are PS3 Racing game fans
250,000 are XBOX 360 Racing game fans
250,000 are XBOX 360 Action game fans
250,000 are XBOX HALO game fans
Now that, is 2,000,000 leads in total.
Now, let's say you go for the more general/gullable people, the WoW gamers. Now, you just spent a massive $500,000 on leads.
You have 250,000 leads for WoW.
Let's say you have a simple email submit(from another advertiser) for a WoW gift card for $3.00 per submit, you send it to them twice and you get a 10% conversion ratio(since their highly targeted) that's 25,000 people. Now, those 25,000 people and $3 per submit, that's $75,000. Now you may be thinking, you paid $3 per lead, how are you making any profit?
Well, no, you really paid $0.75 per lead since you only counted 1 in every 4 leads and you paid $3. and 4 x $0.75 = $3. So off of every one of those leads for the WoW email submit, you would be making a total of $2.25 profit.
That's a kind of easy breakdown of what goes on with email submit leads.
