what the best ecommerce platform?

Just try Shopperpress. Its very easy to use. Just search it is in the download section.

I 'm with this script ver 5.0f for awhile but not quite sure
Does it compatible with wordpress 3.1.1 ??

I've had them all, and I have to say for an open source free cart Magento is the most sophisticated. I am currently migrating several Yahoo stores to Magento.

volusion.com is good if you don't want to program much and they're flexible

magento is good if you want to program it yourself.

I havent bothered reading the whole thread. So if somebody already said what im going to say now. Well sorry then

It really depends on your requirements.
Are you going to have alot of products, or just a small shop ?
Do you want a system you host yourself or a hosted system ?
Open source or a bought system from a company ?

please answer these questions and i could help you alot more ;)

But take a look at Magento, (if your going to have more than 5-20 products) Its open source, alot of modules, an "ok" support forum. Most problems you can find solutions to on Google, and if your going with Magento. Find a very good host because it uses alot of ressources and needs a good hosting enviroment. But if you can provide that, and dont mind googleling some stuff. You will have a powerfull shop you can extend ulimited, either by yourself or hire some help...

I hope all this makes sense, smoking tha joint right now :smokin::smokin::smokin:

I think Magento is the most powerful but also most complex ecommerce system. It comes with it's own ERP and there are plenty of plugins for it.
But it is quite slow if you don't use the enterprise version which comes with the full-caching-module.

Depends on your shop requirements. I would say:

- Big Projects (Magento - due to huge list of features)
- Medium Projects (Joomla + Virtue Mart, Drupal + XCart)
- Smaller Projects (ready to go shop cart software, like prestashop, business catalyst, or ebay stores)

I would recommed that you go to V-worker or Guru to get someone in philliphines/india to make it for cheaper.

zencart has worked alright with me, but they have been calling for a major upgrade for years and it hasn't happened. I haven't used the others but zencart is aight

Magento is by far the best - you defiantly need better host provider. if you're using some cheap $5 hosting then the scripts runs really slow. we had to switch to couple different hostings. We are pretty pleased with the current hosting finally........
