My picks:

r/News
r/Funny
r/Technology (and the other top tech groups)

Based off my experieneces a few years ago, these were the worst 3. For whatever reason, these types of groups seemed to get everything associated with you banned and they were gatekeeping heavy. Like if a post went viral without it being, what i assume as part of their team or a paid placement, they were not letting your post see the 'top trending'

r/Pics could be the same as well. I went to front page once through them years ago and they removed my post for some ridiculous reason like "You can still see through the blur" but the phoen number in the photo was illegible 100%.

most top subs are just overmodded and hate new accounts

Running a few subs myself. I dont think so. You really do need a lot of help to make it easy.

I have a sub with almost 50k users and the work it takes to moderate a fraction of comments is ridiculous.

Without the moderation, Reddit would be valueless to us all.

And, if smh you get good traction, they'll put your post under moderation. Happened a lot with me, so I stopped posting in certain subs.

Large subreddits usually have strict requirements for account age and karma. Posting in these communities can also get your account banned very quickly if your content isn't appropriate or doesn't align with the subreddit’s rules.

That's the Gatekeeprs i always speak of

Like YouTube , that was put under control probably 12 - 15 years ago by CIA/Black Rock

Reddit is secretely ran by organized groups. The top probbaly 5% of reddit is secretly ran 'for profit'

Anybody thinking they are sleeping on that money is out of their mind.

I knew a guy who was part of a group that ran reddit back like 10 years ago. They would send a link to each other and jobs got DONE. But this is the higehest level of internet-ing and people probably browsing this page... can't afford that type of service.. (i cant)... maybe like a .025%.... That guy is a billionaire today and many of you know him just for his crypto work in NFTs lol . The well goes so much deeper.

I've noticed the bigger subreddits are much stricter. I usually have better luck with smaller communities.

I had a similar experience with some of the larger subreddits.
They tend to have much stricter moderation and automated filters, so even legitimate posts can get removed. Smaller, niche communities often give better visibility and are much easier to participate in if your content is relevant.

I stopped worrying about the biggest subreddits smaller communities usually lead to better discussions anyway.

Smaller subs are usually easier to connect with because people actually engage there.

/news and /worldnews bro

I agree for the most.

I love big subs though. They have the most reach still.

But some of them.. yeah.. just steer clear.. it's not even about your content. It's just about you're not paying to play or part of the circle.

I'd say r/askhistorians its one of the strictest but the moderation keeps the content exceptionally high quality.

interesting.

I've never even looked at this sub honestly lol

honestly most of those big subs just remove the post, they dont ban the account. the ones that actually cost me accounts were the report heavy niche subs, nsfw adjacent and crypto/finance, where people mass report you. a removed post means nothing, its the reports reaching the admins that kills the whole account

Removed posts add 'points' to your account for a future ban.

After 3 removals, you're in what i would call an 'orange' zone
