What strategy to follow for Image SEO?

Suppose I have a keyword, how to cook in 2024, would I have to rename the file with how to cook so, that while uploading the image in WordPress for a blog post then, it will show as a title and in alt text I have to add hyphen along with keyword? What approach to follow? WEBP format is recommendable or what is the ideal size of image in the featured section and inside the blog post?

See my method which has worked for me most of the time:

I used web based version of the image; this helps the image to load faster
The title of the image should contain the seed keyword in your content
Again don't forget to add alt text and description; make sure your seed keyword is included each time

You should add EXIF information. İn addition high quality and original image. You know alt description and relevant seed keywords

Perhaps you can get better compression and quality with WEBP, but that would require securing a fallback format like JPEG or PNG for compatibility.

You can name your image file to include your keyword, such as “how-to-cook-in-2024.webp”, and use that keyword in your alt text.

Perhaps you could mark up your images using schema.org to help search engines better understand the content.

Alt text and image title can be same with hypen?

The web version of your image? Do you fetch images from Google?

Use appropriate image formats (e.g. JPEG, PNG, WebP) to balance quality and file size

I also often apply this way

Yes, filename, image alt, image description etc. are required to optimize the image for search engines. After this you can have image sitemap too to index your images. The format can be anything but webp is recommended, the faster your images loads the better its indexing and ranking will be.

Along with these optimizations, you also need to take care of what keywords you optimize for. Keywords must be relevant to the image you are optimizing otherwise there will be no benefit.

You can use format like WebP, recommend AVIF (but still need some support for few browsers)...
Adding, focus keyword on alt text and meta data help you to result better.

To optimize image SEO, you can apply the following strategies:
1. Optimize file names
2. Use ALT tags
3. Optimize image sizes
4. Choose the right image format
5. Create a sitemap for images
6. Use relevant images

Use a keyword rich file name and alt text, opt for WEBP format and size featured images around 1200 x 628 pixels for optimal performance.
I have all the images in a size of 1200 x 650, hope it's fine. Also, If I save it as any image then, do I have to add a title including a hyphen or not? What is the correct format to add alt text in images?

Rename images with keywords (e.g., "how-to-cook.jpg"), use hyphens in alt text, prefer WEBP format for better compression, and aim for around 1200x628 pixels for featured images and 800x600 pixels for blog post images.
