Going to PC (from a Mac) and was wondering what people use nowadays on PCs?

This can be IM related, firewalls, antiviruses, programs, etc.

All kidding aside, it depends on what your needs are. Most IM'ers
need Wordpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, After Effects,
A good video convertor, Xrumer, SENukeX, Kaspersky (or Eset
NOD 32), CCleaner (free), MalwareBytes Antimalware, Microsoft
Office Suite (or the free OpenOffice), and lots of automation tools.

That is just a short list, but as I mentioned, it depends on your
needs and what kinds of functions you want to do.

    Cheers! - "Wiz"

I'd recommend going with kaspersky for antivirus! I'm using the Internet Security product they offer with an annual licensing fee of around $55 if I remember correctly (purchased 2 licenses at one, so not sure what it's priced at for a single license).

They have a shitload of useful stuff included, like a PW typer based on a digital keyboard making keyloggers not being able to log your password when typing for example. Beside that, from my experience, they have the highest detection rate for fresh infections and I haven't noticed any big resource use of the tool although running in background, updating automatically and all that.

AVG, MS Office, WinRaR, CS6 Master Collection, SEO pack, LogMeIn, The Action Machine, Quicktime player, Firefox and Skype....I would be less productive without these programs

My PC runs on the basics really, free anti virus such as AVG, Zone Alarm, etc. Other than that its mostly music production software.

Highly inefficient system you have there mate. Why not just have 1 beast of a computer + laptop? Surely cheaper than 3.

Unlocker is a good app for those times when windows locks up your files. WinDirStat is good to see what is really using up your harddrive space. Diskaid is good if you have an iphone and want to transfer files directly. Some other are 'Any Video Converter', Office, Nero and of course a torrent app.
