VS code for programming, never really had to design a professional site but from what I've heard sketch (mac only) is the best.
Adobe Xd is trying to imitate sketch so maybe it's worth giving a shot.

I think you should good knowledge of Photoshop. Photoshop is the best software in the webdesign.you can use Adobe dreamweaver,gimp.

I use Notepad++, I just find it super simple so never bothered to change programs as I progressed my skills.

Photoshop is THE image editing software of our generation. There are several image editing programs out there today, but as many will tell you, photoshop is the way to go. Photoshop isn't just for editing photos.

Notepad++ It is very easy to use, and extremely lightweight. - Syntax Highlighting for when you are programming
