What so bad about upwork?

As of late many have come out to go against and speak negativity about Upwork. I have never really used the website and plan to soon in order to receive work, but before that Im wondering what are the specific issues that make upwork bad?

Never had any problem with upwork.

Basically since past some years i have seen Upwork is revamped from odesk to elance then Upwork into one platform.

From after that we saw a lot of crap is removed from their due to their policy changes but if you want to get started in their to get work or post job.

It's good platform from my experience i got plenty of teams and individuals from their and so far most are really good so hearing others prospective is good but better if you try it out yourself this is how i do normally for anything new

Never had problems with Upwork either. I am a top rated freelancer there for more than three years now.

I think a lot of freelancers aren't happy with the 20% fee Upwork fairly recently added to projects valued at less than $500. Makes it more difficult for newcomers to bid competitively without feeling the sting. That and the abundance of low paying jobs. At least, that's the gist I got from the majority of the complaints I found. Don't use the platform myself, so I have no personal opinion.

Their fee is quite large. I mean, they do provide a solid avenue for freelancers to meet with clients, but understand that a good amount of work goes into the project no matter how good you are at whatever service you're providing.

High fees.
They raised fees even more recently.
