What skills does Internet Marketing require?

Hey guys, just been thinking about what skills are required in order to be very successful in internet marketing. I'm not meaning software, just general skills. I'm starting to think I need to learn programming, and website design to increase my effectiveness.

I'm starting small so I wont be outsourcing.

learn wordpress, html, and seo... that would be the base imho... then dig deeper into IM tactics, sales pages, sales funnels etc... like once u learn how 2 get traffic, then u must know how to make that traffic convert..

IMO the main skills you need are to Plan, Organise, Focus and take Action.

As with every business the more you know about the core skills, in this case, HTML, php, MySQL, Javascript, SEO, etc. the better but none of these are essential.

If you have the skills in my opening sentence (POFA) then you can build a great IM business by outsourcing all the work that you do not have the skills for.

Marketing skills of course (+ a good knowledge on Internet too). Expand your online marketing skills more and more. Programming / designing skills are not really needed as you can simply outsource them.

Focus! That's what you need. When I started I began one site, got bored, moved on and ultimately NONE made money.

Now, I make one site, work on it, monetize it, when it's making money THEN I move on while continuing to keep Google happy by updating the site.

Knowing how to build and where to find the best backlinks, in my opinion this is key to making money.
