What should I do?

I have a business that generates a good revenue stream.
This business are being feed by the beast (Google) and no other source.

As you guys already know, trusting Google to put food on my table is the last thing that I would do.
When I started this site, I was too naive and pretty sure that Google loves good content. but actually figured out that I am just another website out of thousands. and that the same hand that feeds you can also slap you.

I used to get 450-500K Visitors a month but every year, since G became more and more stricter with their updates, my revenue started to decrease too (less visitors)

Now since 2018-19 I am seeing the traffic decreasing every year and I am still wondering if I should sell it or not, but every year I get another hit by Google and with every hit that I get, the business value decrease too.

I was discussing with potential buyers over the years but due to sentimental connection with the property I wasn't able to sell it.
Today I am aware of it, that Google will not decide on my favor and I will probably have to sell. but still, got this mindset that I can regret on it my whole life because I invest a lot of hours of my life in this project and it's one of my firsts ones. you know, like the first love. (too dramatic I know)

So what u would do if you were in my position?

Have you been adding to the site? Is it something where you can invest in good content and get a positive return? If you cannot really add to it, I would look for a buyer and move on to something new. It's a risk, but it can also be exciting.

Yes, the site is still working and I invest around $400 a month on editors.
It just feels that G cannot be trusted. but more nice to look at G as a one time BH gig

would you like to do business with me ?
 
If you are still growing the site and it's yielding a positive roi I would keep it.
If it is just sitting there without further attention (new articles - backlinks) I would sell it.

It's still bringing profits in. but, Google take business value down every year that pass.
I am not sure if I can keep trust G to keep bring in visitors to my site if it keeps decrease like this. ~10% a year
in 4 years from now, I can found myself with a 50% loss. Instead of selling it right now at +50

Sell it and invest money to new.

Sell and get out.

Always have an exit strategy and never love a business enough to not exit.

In your whole post you never talk about of how excited I am to take this business forward, what big plans you have and big ideas for this business. If you have lost the excitement and don't have big plans, then it's best for somebody else to take it forward.
 
Keep it.
and create something new.

You'll have more than one basket for your eggs.

Look into the old business at what can be improved while you're building a new one, but don't invest as much into the old one as you are now.
 
Follow your guts.
You can do something about the traffic if you really want.

I believe you just haven't put in the required energy in recent times to increase traffic.
