I'm currently posting to targeted websites to get some backlinks on my new site. I'm afraid of my links being labeled spam if I do too many. I'm only hitting blogs in my niche and I've posted my link around 10 times today. Its a movie themed niche. I do post on topic stuff that does contribute to the conversation. I've also posted a yahoo answers question. So, what is too much? How many is a safe number? Also, can anyone tell me if non clickable links on pages register as true backlinks?

You cant make too many by hands, at least if you post related comments not spammy looking comments... Every clickable link isn't do follow (do follow links past juice), but all of theme are backlinks.

Spinnable text helps and can really change things up with auto posting. I'm doing around 50-60 per day with 20+ names, emails, and comments.

As such there is no hard and fast limit for blog posting or commenting.

If you are doing it manually and keeping the quality in mind then you probably could do 20-25 (You put effort for finding blogs, replying them responsibly)

I don't think 20 backlinks to your website would be considered as spam.

To make your task less cumbersome, you may use 'Keyword County' for finding celebrity blogs in your niche that accept blog comments for backlinking.

Chill out, manual comments, its going to be bloody hard to get in trouble.
I have done multiple tests with huge automated runs, and providing you diversify your targets, anchors, urls etc its pretty hard to get canned.
301 redirects (using another domain, or even bit.ly etc) can add an other layer of security if your paranoid.

Have hit new sites with 10k blasts and seen positive results doing this (with loads of different anchors, and different 301 redirects, not just one bit.ly).
