What service is doing these edu links?

Over my past few years of researching various competitors I always come across people at the top of the SERPs that have backlinks from EDU sites. Now this isn't anything new as everyone knows. However, I've found that many of these particular back links appear as fake school sponsored websites with a lot of content and contextual links throughout. It also appears they are always uploaded to a compromised CMS or BB. I'm interested in who or what service is doing this. Anyone have any info?

I've got a lot of non-hacked edu links. Some .gov's too if your interested in a service.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. I'm not interested in any other EDU services, I'm just extremely curious who is doing these. Someone specific is doing a bunch of these because the sites are all very similar and their targets are almost always a compromised 3rd party application.

That's interesting. I checked out one of the sites on YSE and there were probably 20-30 different .gov and .edu sites linking in. I visited a few and they looked exactly the same as the one you linked to.

Yeah its definitely related to other similar sites out there. It seems obvious to me that there is someone providing this exact service out there and I'd sure love to find out who that is.

I have one competitor that outranks me with 1 (like in ONE) contextual edu link and it is exactly like the ones that you are interested in. I have seen this offered on another board for $35 and I have seen it before for $50, where they usually create two-three posts and then drop the link or create the text, let it age and then add your link.

The reason I haven't ordered one is that they are (totally guessing here) short-lived, so you pop $35 or $50 and then the page will get deleted and sure, it could get deleted after a year, but it could get deleted after a day....
