I think too many people focus on building links to directly rank their pages that they lose sight of what they should really be after - targeted traffic which comes about as a result of first page rankings.

Think between the lines, ultimately you want to get your URL to the top of Google, not necessarily your actual page (if it's harder). So, why not pick a service that already has a high authority, get that ranking (much easier) and populate that page with your URL..
