What SEO method still works - 2013

Hey guys,

It's been 4 years since i've last promoted sites.
Pls help an oldtimer to get some updates.

Last time l've promoted sites i used PRstorm and BMD - those still works? any alternatives?
I've also use web 2.0 over wordpress.com and squidoo and if i could get it wikipedia - any new ones?
What about those 100K links i see on fiverr - it's working or it's banning sites?

Pls advice.

Getting links in mass sucks, unless you know what you're doing. Doing a ton of Web 2.0 sites work, but you have to make sure you anchor text is varied tremendously. A rule of thumb is:

10-20% - Keyword Anchor Text
60% - Naked, Brand, URL anchor text
20% - LSI and/or varied keyword anchor text

Purchasing expired domains with PR works really well. We've been doing this for a while now and it's been exceptionally effective.

Does the original subject matter of the expired domain with PR affect your results much, or is any PR helpful regardless? Been meaning to pick up a domain to experiment with this.

I'd avoid any bulk links from sites like Fiverr. These days it's quality + relevancy over quantity. And it's not all about PageRank either. Important also is the link profile of the site. That's why you'll sometimes see sites rank very high on SERPs with low PR and a lower number of links and link domains.

No, it doesn't seem to matter. This happens "organically" all the time anyway, so it doesn't matter from a Google perspective; at least right now. Check out PR Powershot for generating a good list of PR domains to purchase.
 
even if you're asking about off site seo, getting a short emd or keyword rich domain will always help. also try guest blogging if your niche allows for that, but don't go where everyone else is blogging
 
no one will tell you what exactly works best

but the main points are :

Unique content
Social Media
Diversified backlink profile like web 2.0, article, high pr backlinks, high pr blog comments, press releases etc etc
