Choosing a valuable domain requires more than finding a short or memorable name. Brandability, relevance, extension, existing demand, and potential end-user interest are all worth considering before investing. Taking the time to evaluate these factors can help reduce poor purchases and identify stronger opportunities. Which factor carries the most weight for you when evaluating a domain?

To me, however, the most important thing will be the history and links associated with the domain. The importance of having a good name will matter less than the quality of the links the domain has.

for me domain value always comes down to the age, history, backlinks, traffic, brandability, and how strong the demand is for the niche.

I would say the domains history since that can tell if the domain has had a good performance past which in turn can hold promise for tomorrow.

It depends on your goals. But in general, I choose a domain that hasn't had any Chinese websites selling any products, redirects, gambling, or other related, often negative, factors. It's important to check the domain in the web archive, even if it has high rankings.

for me, end-user demand carries the most weight, because a domain can be short and brandable but still have no real buyers. relevance and a clean history matter too, but demand is what makes the investment worthwhile.
