What Rank Checker To Trust?

Hello,

Recently, I've jumped to the third place for a keyword (exact: 6000 -- straight from Google Keyword Tool), according to Rank Tracker. Since my market is in the USA and that I am no American citizen, I've checked with this service where I was; it seems that I really am at the third place.

Tried to use an USA proxy: same result. Third place.

Therefore, I should receive about 15 to 30 visitors. I don't. I receive about 3 to 5 visitors -- which feels like I am more like at the bottom of the first page/beginning of the second page.

If I look my position in Web tools like SerpIQ, they all say that I am, on Google USA, somewhere between the 10 and the 15th position.

Now, I'm not complaining, but I wonder if other people already have experienced this issue -- especially if your market is not from the country where you came from.

EDIT: I forgot something. In my country, I am at the fifth place.

i used Rankerizer. try to check it out. might be great for comparison with rank tracker.
 
Well, my point is not there since all local tools tell me that I am at third position. I wanted to know if anyone here exprimented the gap between the results from local tools and Web tools; and if so, which results I should trust.

How much traffic you get is a combination of a lot of things... 6000/month - 200 a day.. if you're at the top, you "could" see maybe 60-120 a day. However. If your term is for a specific product and the first listing is the official site for that product, you're not going to get anywhere near what you might think. The type of keyword, your title, what sites are ranked above you, whether people think your domain looks trustworthy etc etc etc. All of that impacts how many vistors you'll actually end up getting.

Another thing is who's actually searching for that term and when. For example, it gets 6000 searches a month. But did you check it in something like google trends to see if it's seasonal? Or what countries are actually searching for it? That can also impact what % of visitors you'll actually get as well.
 
I checked.

  • The keyword is not seasonal.
  • It's not a brandmark.
  • The vast majority of clicks are from the USA, hence why I check my ranking for this specific country.
In other words: if I really am at the third position, I should get more than a mere 3 to 5 visitors -- wheter or not the other websites look more attractive.

If you read his post, he said I should be getting around 15-30 visitors a day, so obviously he rougly calculated what he would get at 3rd place.

Anyways, to OP, I don't know what it is, but different rank checkers give different results. I have a keword that says #7 for two separate keywords, but on zend2.com (US proxy), I'm #2 for both.
 
i use scrapebox and it has a rank checker add on. I find this useful.

If nothing else makes sense, think about a different reason. i.e. the google adwords traffic numbers are false... I did up an EMD site once based on something like 4000 exact match from google adwords. Ranked #1 and got next to no traffic... This was a "buy" keyword and that's what the site was all about so I should have been getting a really high CTR. Google came out with that sktool (which doesn't exist anymore but was supposed to be real search numbers) and I checked the numbers with that. They were no where near the numbers that adwords was telling me.
 
I use Traffic Travis v3. In the past it had glitches, now it seems good, stable and reliable :)

Check your rankings in all of these and you should get a good idea of your rankings. But just because you rank doesn't mean G will send you traffic. Remember you're competing against local results, ad's, maps, and multiple listings that only show up for certain people not to mention personalized search results.

If you use a local tool, you really need to be careful and to use the correct proxy with the correct settings.

(I am at the 10th position.)
 
try the link in my Sig! i use it everyday and it updates often and is very accurate! very easy to use also
 
I only use traffic travis nowadays. It always gives me the right rankings. Market samurai is strange. Only good for checking backlinks and kw research imho.
