It's created with a PHP MVC framework called Laravel.

It's not easily extendable and can't be easily customised as like Wordpress. Not to mention, you'll have to hire a Laravel Developer if you wanted to add some feature to it like adding a slideshow or social sharing icons.

See if you can find a similar looking theme and stick with the Wordpress. Will save you boatload of time and money.

There's no alternative WordPress theme sadly :/
But how about getting the CSS and editing some of the default WordPress theme links to the new CSS of this blog?

Yeah, What @pressrelease said and even the free twenty thirteen theme can be customised with plugins to look similar. A little CSS knowledge is all that is required to make an exact replica in Wordpress.

It's a very simple theme which could be put together in a couple of hours. The framework doesn't really matter. If you look at in sections all it contains is two post loops inside a simple template. One filtered by date and another by the share count, a very simple menu and a notifications widget.

It's a nice looking theme but if you want to replicate it I think it could do with a better layout on wider screens as it seems too skinny to me and I'd go for an 'infinite' scroll type of pagination.

Also, am laravel dev (not looking for work) and someone mentioned it's not easily extendable. Couldn't disagree more as it's just php made easier so you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, but there's nothing here you couldn't do with WordPress.
