What motivates you in IM?

Decoding customer psychology.
Done right it's very challenging.

Well, I'm too smart to hold a 9to5 job and I need money to eat.
Speaking to my boss makes me dumb and setting in a Coffeshop with a laptop makes me free, wild and freaking awesome.

Freedom is one of the main reasons then (Aside from money of course), I agree with that one but its not specific to IM - I work from home anyway and freedom definitely is my favorite thing about that, but for IM in particular - and really SEO I like that fact that so few people know about it and also I like the fact that it is always going to be a hidden art to some extend - almost like fighting your enemy (Google) in the pitch black and you have to think of new ways to second guess them all the time because nothing is immediately visible to you.

Reaching milestones is my motivation. I set targets on how much I need to earn daily.
Started with 10$/day then 100$, 1000$ and even 5000$. It's not stable ofcourse but it's a number I need to reach.
Right now 10k in a day is my goal.
This keeps me motivated alot, also a good tip:
If you want to buy something, earn 10x or 6x the price in a day(profit) and only then you are allowed to buy it.

This is exactly the same as my motivation. Make 10x of an item before you allow yourself to get it :D

don't feel bad. That's like 99% of the people on this site.

Word. I'm always broke. But I can do what I want when I want. I'd rather live like that than having to slave away for The Man and still be broke.

Lol I sound like a hippy.

My number one motivation is freedom and then only comes money. I can travel the world, live in cheap places while earning Euros, Dollars and Pounds. I was working non stop for 8 hours today. But now I will go to the local pub and watch the Champions League while having a few pints of beers and I know I can take it slow tomorrow because a lot of work was done today.

Seems to me you are in denial and your motive is beer. The first step to overcoming this is admitting you have a problem. Me on the other hand, do not have a problem. I like drinking and can admit it. And that is why I do IM.

Don't live in denial, come clean, don't be a closet drinker.

Recovering drug addicts and alcoholics are just quitters.

Money and meaning it gives my life.
I enjoy working a lot more than watching TV in the evenings. lol

Me too. I find I'm more productive from about 3-10pm. Whenever I work during the day I get exhausted way too fast and I wind up quitting. But if I work from 3pm-8pm I'm fine, and I still have a few hours left to play video games, watch cartoons or whatever.

I wonder how much i would need to earn to buy a house with that thought lol.

Also i would need to earn 300k in a day to buy a car? Cmon you are restricting yourself a lot.

Passion for creativity, learning and competition. The feeling of not just generating ideas, but acting on them. Freedom, not just from an office cubicle but from social constraints at specific times. The rat race is groundhog day, repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result (the definition of insanity). You can learn something from IM'ing every single day that you didn't know the day before.

Just wondering what motivates people here to be involved in Internet Marketing? I know a lot of people might say its the money but for me its not so much about that - I do want to make money from my online ventures but when I sat down and though about it I realized that out of all the things I do, building and (trying) to rank websites is probably the thing I enjoy most and its the one thing that I probably don't measure by how much money it actually brings in.....

I know there must be a mixture here in terms of how much success people have seen from IM so interested to know what motivates you.....
A few things...

1. Passive income. The first time I got a taste for passive income, I was absolutely hooked. It makes growing wealth incredibly easy.

2. I move in circles with people who are doing incredible with IM, and so I want to keep up with them. Peer pressure, you could say.

3. I like building systems, and IM is all about building systems.

Working for yourself means there should be a positive correlation between what you put in and what you get out.

If you work really hard in a typical job (corporation, etc) you might get a raise/promotion every once in a while, but the returns aren't linear to the amount you put in.
