Hello. So I've been getting a DM in my fiverr a few times a month with a note to contact, then a note that says the below:
Hello, hope you are doing well and keeping safe.

I am Erick, a senior software engineer with 8+ years of experience.

What I am looking for from you for our partnership

I worked on Upwork(www.upwork.com) for about 7 years now and earned a lot there so far but last month, my Upwork account was blocked so I can’t work there anymore. I want to keep working on Upwork but not able to open a new account to work on myself because Upwork not letting me make a duplicated account there.

So I just want you to make an Upwork account and allow me to work on it. I will pay you every month for that.

How this will work between us

  • You will make Upwork account with your brief information like first/last name, number, address, profile picture. Upwork is free signup and this is quite simple.
  • Upwork does not allow to use different ip locations on an account so I can’t use your Upwork account on my computers or VPN. So I need to work on your extra computer remotely thru anydesk (www.anydesk.com).

What is the benefit from our partnership

  • You can just free monthly income from here without doing anything. You would just need to make account first and keep your computer on for me.
  • Of course, you know there are so many top rated persons on Upwork so to be honest, it is not easy to get projects on new account but as I have enough experience and skill, I can grow business quickly.
I will be able to pay you more as we go.

If you are interested, I’d like to discuss further with you and let’s build great things with our long term relationship.

Please contact me on telegram or whatsapp.

Is this a new version of (no offense to anyone) Nigerian scam? Or is this, like someone who legitimately needs help?

99.99% Scam
00.01% Genuine

I would report the account.

I would not trust anybody connecting to my PC.

It is scam and spam. Fiverr policies forbids users to share their contact details. Each time you receive such messages at Fiverr, report them and block such users.
At Fiverr, users can share an email address, etc, ONLY ON THE ORDER PAGE, and only if it relates to fulfilment for the work related to a gig.

Better scenario would be to create account, get tasks, let the distant man send it to you, you submit and then share the money. No access to your PC is the keyword

Yes, it is a scam. Don't fall for it

There is an influx of developers on Upwork who pretend to be someone else.
When I interview developers for Jobs via Upwork, I insist on a video call. You would be surprised by the excuses these scammers can devise to try and get out of a video call.

I think this is a scam, now there is a lot of scam on upwork

Unfortunately, it's a double edged sword.
The bigger you become as a platform, the more attractive the platform is for scammers to focus on.

What if you create a fake account from some old laptop or server and give it access?
