I look at niche relevance and organic traffic first. Strong metrics are helpful, but they don't mean much if the website isn't relevant or has no real audience.

real organic traffic matter the most. I'd rather get a link from a niche website with an engaged audience than a high-DA site

I first consider the niche relevancy and actual organic traffic rather than just the DR/DA.
Next, I analyze traffic trend, number of indexed pages, outgoing links, content quality, and the natural backlink profile.

Something else i do not overlook when analysing a site is whether the traffic that the site receives is relevant to the page where my link will be placed. There may be a well trafficked site but this might not be relevant for the target audience i am interested in. I also look into the nature of other posts that surround my posts .
