What makes a good link diversity package?

What makes a good link diversity package? All they are kind of spammy in nature? (Profiles here and there on free to register sites, Comments, social media and web 2.0 pages)

I've not used this service myself but lots of members who I respect have only good things to say about it. I will be testing it soon on one of my own sites once it has aged another month or so.
