Nice. Are you indexing your backlinks or inner page urls of mass page sites?.
What's the percentage of indexed urls and time to get indexed ?

Building links from indexed pages seems to do the trick but this would obviously be difficult for larger link volumes.

backlinks. Successs rate is above 80%. I index only 2-3 links per day to make it look natural in eyes of google

If you've submitted the URL and if it doesn't get indexed, either that the content isn't good, or if your site has limited authority, that would cause such circumstances.
Otherwise, a good site with a good amount of link authority would definitely get that indexed within 8-24 hours time.
Or normally, using an indexing tool from GSA can also be a motivational factor to get that link indexed - use the comprehensive mode.
