what laptop u guys use?

I work on a Acer Aspire One
8.9" Screen/XP
Cheap at only $350 and does all I need it too

i disagree
i am not a pc fanboy but microsoft is a very good company and they will learn from their mistakes with vista. i have tried osx10 and i agree it is beutiful but for me it is hard to switch. and i think that windows 7 is working beutifully so. macs are also expensive...too expensive for most people. that is why most people don have macbook

also anyone else selling a good laptop

I actually thought about buying a mac air for walking to class with lol... My FX is 17 inch screen so it's kind of big.

I think it was originally $1700 but i got the guy down to $1300 (haggleing + 12% student discount).

Haha...want one that is smaller but only $300 and will do internet and word documents perfectly fine?

^^I have that. I absolutely love it, to be honest.

Have had some bad luck with mine recently. My HP pavilion's screen finally died, running it off a monitor atm, not to mention the horrible hinges this thing has. They're so broken the screen just flops around. Never buying another hp :AR15firin

2nd dud is my black macbook. What a piece of crap this thing is. I bought it to run osx/windows/ubuntu but it turned out to be a giant headache, one after another. The build quality is left to be desired, the plastic doesn't fit snug all around, and my mouse button makes a broken plastic like clicking sound after only a few weeks use. The final disaster with this p.o.s is that the hard drive died, not once, but twice. See when macbooks close their lid, it ''supposedly'' takes a moment for the hard drive heads to park, so if you move the macbook within maybe uhh, 15 seconds or less of closing the lid, well, say good bye to your hard drive. Heaven forbid you close the lid and walk away with it like you normally would! Not once have I ever had this kind of sh*t happen on any other laptop. End of story, dont buy macbook :D

Waiting on a new lenovo t400 coming in the mail, lets give that a shot. I had excellent luck with a T43 for a few years... *sigh* :D

Goes to show that Windows will never even equate/let alone acheive what Macintosh has, living proof that no matter what type of new OS version that windows creates its still gunna create more and more, and still possibly/probably suck, In my opinion WinXP is the best thing they've created. Don't get me wrong I like Windows, but only for being able to run scripts and programs being everything is .exe and not .dmg ; However as far as having an OS that totally dominates in terms of digital media, Mac blows Windows out of the water...besides your less likely to experience as many unexplainable crashes and incompatibilities as you might on a Windows PC.

Just my $.02

Would love a response. Thanks

Well we all have our own opinions. :)

I HIGHLY recommend you to try Windows 7 beta though.. it may change your mind. It may look similar to Vista but there are many changes including better speed and performance, and I love it. I'm using it as my pemanent OS right now even though it's still beta. I'll be purchasing Win 7 when it comes out.

I also have the acer aspire one.

I'm curious. Why do you use a netbook instead of a regular size laptop? From my experience netbooks are too small and keyboards aren't comfortable for typing.

can it run most programs?

IBM T60P... It's a got' damn workhorse. I use it as my main computer... It stays on pretty much 24/7/365 and has for a couple years w/o problems.

I even have a pimped out overclocked desktop w/ a 30" Apple Cinema and I honestly prefer the laptop... Call me crazy.

I am sure you can probably find something fancier than an IBM tho... IBMs are just workhorses tho... Plain and simple.

Again,

Uses:

~ Fitting in your backpack.
~ Running word.
~ Various internet tasks.

At least the way he made his post sound, it looked as if he wasn't in a graphics intensive course and taking notes in Word would be sufficient.

Acer Aspire 6306... It is overkill, but it gets all I need done and then some. The size of the board is not much different than my razer board.. So it didn't take adjustments on getting used to typing.

Haven't found a laptop case to fit it, but sleeves work fine in the case of traveling..

I got one of the new dell latitudes (E6400) a few months back, and so far it's been great. The screen (LED lit) is super sharp, the aluminum casing is trick, and I just like it.

I got a sony vaio tough little machine I take it everywhere (use it in my vehicle to log miles and as a GPS) only paid $449 for it and sure gets the job done BJ's wholesale
