Hellou,
A fun and interesting conversation came up today.
Which I'm going to ask here!

Each of us has probably attended some school..
Education determines our passions or interests to some extent, but not completely..
Sometimes we choose the wrong profession, through which we try to make money for our simple life..
Sometimes we change professions and start doing other jobs..
Some jobs require a different educational background..
Sometimes we do the job that our education determines..
Sometimes we don´t have any education to do that specific job..

So my question is, what kind of educational background do you have?
And does your educational background match what you are doing today, or trying to do?

  • I'll start: I'm originally an electrician, trained mostly in the electrical installation of single-family homes or townhouses or apartment buildings.
I've been doing this work for a few years.
  • Then I went to a university of applied sciences, whose theme is "service developer. Mostly the point is to develop the companies or various topics so that the company can improve the work environment, improve contact with the customer, or its own employees. This is not a coder, but more of a consultant, who advises companies, employees, or customers. I have been doing this for maybe 10 years.
  • At the moment, I am not doing work that is in line with my educational background, especially in the "electrician" stuff. As for this "service developer consultant", I am currently doing development work, but I am not fully doing what my education allows.

Thank you very much

I studied economics for a couple years and honestly never used any of it.

Most of what actually makes money online I learned from forums like this, testing stuff, breaking things, getting accounts banned, trying again.

School teaches you how to follow rules. Internet business usually rewards the opposite.

So no, my education has almost nothing to do with what I do today.

I have 2 degrees (Economics, Manager more specifically... and Environmental Physics), plus a few other certificates that I don't remember what they represent LOL (I believe one of them is for Project Manager, the other one was about some PC assistant something). But I don't know shit of anything that I've got diplomas for, I've never been good at being indoctrinated by schools, so not much had stuck with me from Uni (or even High School or Elementary school even).

I have a masters in computer science, I'm currently a data engineer so I am using my degree.

I know and understand a lot of the nuts and bolts of AI and data because of that I have been considering getting a degree in statistics/math so I can sell myself a little more.

Interesting story! I studied mechanical engineering but ended up doing digital marketing. It’s not fully related, but I’ve learned a lot along the way.

Interesting topic.

My background isn’t directly related to what I do now. I didn’t receive formal training in marketing or technology. Most of what I know about SEO and online business is self-taught through trial and error and learning along the way.

So no, it doesn’t really match in a traditional sense. But over time, practical experience mattered more than formal education.

I think that’s pretty common in this space. Skills you build yourself usually end up being more valuable than what you studied years ago.

Got BSc.

I've mostly only applied parts of ny knowledge from school in IM and my software journey.

Mostly what I did in school never helped in real life as it was always outdated. Except learn to write and math. I was always self taught in anything big I did.

Failed college. Tried again at uni. Couldn't handle that so dropped out! lol A walking talking failure. ;)

Both courses were computer related, and I got what I needed from them to learn and stay updated with the computer world, and buying and building PC's, and using the internet, then in my later years, a head start on programming BEFORE the ai revolution took over!

I got my first job before I even started studying for a degree, managing multiple X (Twitter) bots. That experience sparked my interest in automation and led me to start learning programming. I quickly fell in love with both programming and electronics.

I decided to create a YouTube channel where I build projects using programming and electronics, showing others how to make them as well. However, I knew it would take time for my channel to grow, so I chose to study English teaching as a way to earn a living more quickly.

Right now, I’m working as an English teacher, but I plan to transition into another career soon. I’m close to finishing my bot system, and my YouTube channel is growing well, so I’m excited about what’s ahead.

I have a degree in Biotech and a masters in public health plus certifications in management, education, and health education and promotion. Currently working in the health sector as a senior scientific officer.
I don't really like the health sector and hope one day to do IM full time.
