What job position to choose

I'm looking for a remote job in the IT or marketing sector. Ideally, I’m interested in a position where I don’t have to take phone calls and can work independently. Roles related to support, handling reports, or something in cybersecurity could be a good fit. I’m open to other suggestions as well.

Here are my skills:

• Programming and task automation (both for computers and phones)
• Web development and design
• Creating and managing advertising campaigns (e.g., Facebook)
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting technical issues
• Automating marketing and sales processes

Experience:

• I ran a small business in e-commerce
• I worked as a technical support agent (handling tickets and technical assistance)

If anyone has ideas on which roles would suit my profile, I’d appreciate the advice. I’m open to discussing potential positions.

You should shoot for corporate jobs. If you gonna work as am employee might as wanna work for high paying jobs.
The qualification/resume you describe above are for small business, local business, independent business, startups.
They are always short on liquidity.
You see corporate companies are all connected they work as a loose network with currency flowing through them just like electricity flowing through the electric grids. That's why they are able to pay well to employee.

It should be relatively easy to get a remote marketing job, assuming you are experienced enough.

I can't agree more.

However, startups and small corporations in Germany pay a lot for experienced freelancers, and the rates are pretty decent.

To answer your initial post:

Why?
ChatGPT and case studies will tell you that cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important due to the shift towards the cloud.
I screen the market multiple times daily (for my country), and I can tell you that most tech roles are Cloud (Architect & Security-based).
If you have that skill, you have something in your pocket that is more than just hype or easy to learn.
You could charge higher rates to customers because this is specialist knowledge.

Marketing: Yes, it's essential, but (it's not nice to say on BHW), many companies have big departments of Experts.
Either you focus on a particular niche area or do it as a side hustle.


If you are in tech, or at least a solid understanding, my advice would be:

1. Do AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
2. Do AWS Solutions Architect - Associate and then Professional

If you want to be a skilled Multicloud professional, consider Google (GCP) and Azure.
Otherwise:
3. Go for Specialist path -> Security

The ultimate addition to that would be a certificate in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - I guess that's the best and worldwide acknowledged certificate in this topic (correct me if im wrong).


This is sustainable; you are a specialist in a field, and scalable (another cloud provider), cloud security and internet security are getting more and more attention.
Studies proved.

Last but not least, There are many (!) remote Jobs for this position/path.

You should be going to web development because you already said, you want a position where you don't have to take phone calls and you believe that you can work independently.

So focus on that.

Right now, the pickings are slim because in the United States, a lot of tech jobs are just being cut and we are in an efficiency season in the tech sector.

A lot of that work is being outsourced overseas.

So if you are located outside the United States and you are looking for work using platforms like Upwork, focus on remote development positions.

Cybersecurity is also good because that's a growing space, so you may want to look into that.
