Well that's not what I expected to hear, something more constructive .
If what he was saying is true then I wonder why there are so many people making bank with a mass of micro-niche websites.

Because what he's saying doesn't mean shit. All that matters is the SERPs. Yes, people are killing it with micro sites. Therefore, what's the problem? At the end of the day if your site (or just page) answers the question the searcher was asking, google is going to reward you.
