What is your method for top 3 on Google?

Prefer good quality and as much unique content as you can.
Prefer text over images.
SE sitemap suibmissions,
Building backlinks.
Spread the word with Social Networking sites,
Give it 4-5 months time.

what I do goes like this.
1 good keyword reserch (very important if not the most)
2 buy aged domain
3 good on page optimizations.
4 few xrumer blasts.
5 amr blasts per page, and BMD.
6 a lot of patience

I find that you need alot of good articles or a good product and alot of back links it also helps if you can get linked in by a big site..

In order of importance ...

1. Domain - this is the building that you store filing cabinets in
2. Directory - this is the actual filing cabinet with all the goodies in
3. Sub-Directories - individual filing cabinets relevant to a particular goody
4. Files - These are the folders we keep files in (web page)
5. Title - This identifies what file you are looking at
6. Description - describes the file
7. H1 - Heading 1 - describes the content of the file
8. H2 - Heading 2 - describes the content in the file
9. Images - a visual reference
10. Text Links - describes relevant parts of the file / reminder of other files within the cabinet
11. Content - the actual thing you were looking for
12. Call to action - reminder to do something important (like buy something?)
13. Thank you for looking
14. See other files / folders/ cabinets / buildings

ALL the above MUST be relevant to your building !

TELL others where the building is ! - give them maps, bus routes and even a cab fare if they need it (only do this if your sure they are potential buyers)

This is a very simplistic list and if you need to know more about exactly how to look after your buildings and their content then ask nicely or pay for a buildings manager ...

In general you should have good on-site seo, content and in a good niche. If you have that, a good way to get the the top 3 would to have lots of backlinks from web 2.0's, wiki's, articles and blog comments. Powered up by xrumer links.

Well... seems to be very easy (i think it's not easy )

nothing is easy. If you want to rank in high competitive keywords, you would need some money for investment and outsourcing even.

Stay with BHW and read some successful story and how they made it.You will find your way.

onpage is key to begin with... use unique content with the right keyword density.. correct title/description ... meta tags etc etc.. once you have your onpage perfect, start with backlink campaign / social media .. and many more things you can do!

You can use web directory submission for links. This directory links are very good and authentical for Google ranking. where ever i read about directory submission there i found good things only about directory submission.
