Back in the day, the very first one I stumbled into (1989) was Wolfenstein 3D. I remember I wasted lots of time playing it at work while the boss was out for meetings (I used to work for the service center of Radio Shack, fixing computers). That was my primary motivation to switch from the Commodore64 to a PC at that time.
Then I started playing Doom and then Duke Nukem and then Counter-Strike. After that, I played all the Half-Life versions I could find.
I have never played any of the Call-of-Duty series, but it would probably be my favorite if I would.
That been said, so far, my favorite one is Postal Dude, by the company Running with Scissors. The game is nuts.
