I don't have a favorite yet, I'd like to find one that is free online and works great.

I use Majestic SEO simply because it has the most metrics for free meanwile others are bit agressively lacking. But of course, SEOmoz is top service for this method.
 
There are various tools some are free and some are paid. Paid tool are display good results. in general everyone use backlinkwatch but I am facing problem it's display same site many time with many inner page so I have searched some tool like ahrefs and analyzebacklinks but I am very satisfy with analyzebacklinks that's good and free tool.
 
As a free backlinkwatch is the best option

In paid MajesticSeo is the best option
 
Mine used to be backlinkcheck .com or something like that. Mostly used it to spy on the competition.

I would say the paid tool of seomoz.com it's pretty good.
 
yahoo explorer is no longer active

Bing Webmaster Tools works fairly well
