What is your engagement ratio?

So I just switched to a business account. I have been putting it off for quite some time in fear the switch would lower my engagement.

I would like to know if my stats are any good. I created an account about 10 months ago. Never followed anyone and never used tags. The account has about 235k followers. The following is the 'Insight' of content I posted 2 hours ago. Could someone with experience give feedback? Many thanks.

The thing that worries me is that when I discovered the advertising feature, it says that 'pictures with text are penalized'. My content are pictures with text. Does the penalty only apply for ad-content or on all content? (giving me a lower engagement)

Your engagement rate is high. Divide your number of engagements with your number of impressions, to get your engagement rate as a percentage.

The only question is... are you posting video?

I'm not sure if IG is like this but Facebook includes the 3 second video view metric as an engagement. You always have to exclude 3 second views views from your total engagements to get the actual engagements because someone swiping through their newsfeed and landing on your muted video for 3 seconds will count as an engagement. Which is very deceiving.

Avoid having more than 20% text in your photos (paid or organic). There's a reason why IG (Facebook) doesn't like it. Because it looks ugly and gets less engagement. So why would you want to ignore all of the testing that Facebook have already done which proves that people don't engage well with images with too much text (>20% to be precise).

My engagement ranges from 4% to 22% with 10% being the average. Your stats look impressive.

Check those stats in about 1 week. By then you'll know if IG limited your account by switching to business or not.

Telling an exact number whether it's good or not is really difficult as the numbers vary depend upon the kind of niche you're into.
For some really touch niche, even 5% engagement would be amazing while for some really easy niches, even 15% could be less.

But like always, the higher the better, so always try to keep them engaging and aim for the maximum number of likes.
