what is your best VPS provider

I've been staring at VPS(for US) comparison tables for way too long and my brain is officially fried. I'm hoping some of you seasoned pros can point me in the right direction before I make a decision I regret!. give me your best picks from experiences. budget-friendly plz. thanks in advance

For best, consider CLoud VPS. Now everyone is on Cloud. Works better.

why dont you just pick a provider with reliable uptime and support, then start with a smaller plan so you can upgrade later instead of overpaying from the beginning so you can know if its worth using or not

Same for me. VPS provides a lot more flexibility when you require consistent resources. I would mostly test the single-core speed and real network bandwidth because some inexpensive offers may seem attractive on paper but could slow down after loading.

The best is generally the one who you have the best experience with. Track records and recommendation from clients matters.

If you look into web search, the info that you get may be affected by the fact, that many hosts are better than others in getting their name out in terms of SE / AI search optimization.

Some fundamentals to follow:

- if everyone offers the same technical specifications, it's the people that you deal with that will make the difference (whether it's support, sales staff, contractual conditions, straightforward pricing etc.)
- don't get lured with promotional pricing - look into the small print and renewal conditions
- this is the most widespread practice now - to sell under what would normally be the market price only to get a new customer hooked into a more expensive, long term, auto-renewing contract
- ideally look for a monthly deal with straightforward conditions, with a host where it's easy to upgrade / scale your setup in case you'll need more power, connectivity or any additional features

Also, experienced host should even be able to advise you on setup, depending on what your industry, business model and requirements are - this pertains to HW, or even SW solutions alike.

For a budget US VPS, I’d put DigitalOcean and Vultr on the shortlist first. DigitalOcean Basic starts at $4/mo and has several US regions, while Vultr also has plenty of US locations if latency to a specific area matters

I wouldn’t choose only by the RAM/vCPU numbers on the table though. Check whether the CPU is shared or dedicated, how much transfer is included, and which location is closest to your users. For a normal site, shared CPU is a reasonable place to start unless the workload is consistently CPU-heavy
