One of the first things I always do is analyze the competition. Just get a general outline of what needs to be done and also sometimes I’m able to acquire some backlinks from their backlinks.
Secondly, I set up real social media profiles in regards to the site. I build a very small social footprint for the website. Generally, those can be considered tier 1 no follow backlinks.
Afterwards, for me, it’s about building good links to send my tier 2 links to. I’m looking for decent websites that don’t cost an arm & a leg to place a link on. PBNs work too but it takes time to decipher the quality.
Good content on your backlinks that require content is almost as important as the content on your website. At least, that’s how I’ve always felt.
The higher quality your backlinks are, the easier it’ll be over time to rank.
This is just some small stuff that I do/have noticed.
