It varies from niche to niche. What works in one niche might send your domain to the abyss in another.

I find like 800 keywords and build 2k backlinks.. that's pretty damn good diversity in itself.. Then build manual backlinks to keywords I'm trying to promote on relevant blogs.. Easy peasy

Of course it feels better when planning the campaign to structure in percentages, but they are only fitting in our minds well.
I am using the same anchor text ratio for all niches. What % do you use for exact anchors?

For me I prefer 2 :2 :1 :1 :1
But, I love keep on changing the ratio for a complete SEO regime
Now one more thing which I believe that not only for off-page SEO this ratio should be maintained for the Homepage/innerpage Content as well as for articles used for linkbuilding

I'm really competitive which has almost no product or common anchor bolts and you can see their hyperlinks are all artificial, yet they position 2nd for a very great volume/competition UK keyword and key phrase. Sometimes I experience like there are different guidelines for different nations as I'm seeing plenty of websites here in the uk that are asking for a charge, yet keep position very well. . . .

I recently ranked a 5600 exact search term on page 1 within 10 days with following:
30% URL
30% MainKW
20% Long Tail
20% Generic
But to be honest, depends how many links you will need in total to rank your website. If you need 1000 links in total, keep your Main Kw at 20% top. You need a smaller number of BL you can keep it at up to 30%. Thats my experience atleast.

Exact match- 10-15%
Brand Name- 10-20%
Naked url- 10-20%
Synonymous Keywords-10-15%
generic keywords(click here, read more etc) - 50%
Yes, Generic keywords are above 50% as I can see in current ranking factors for all my competitors website.

What I usually do is use so much social media links within my sites including press releases with naked urls to get as many anchored links as possible. By doing this I am able to concentrate on building keywords and anchored links. My links and keywords are made up of 40% money keyword links and other generic anchors while the rest are made up of press releases and social media unanchored links.

My anchor text distribution depends on the keyword. Each keyword has different filters from my experience.
