What is with youtube honors?

Hi guys, Im new here however I have been doing youtube promotion since last year, with total organic video views around the 6,000,000 mark.

I am interested to know your experience with youtube honors after their recent (hopefully not on going) updates. Im mainly trying to figure out 'Most Viewed Today' honors.

Here is my experiences...

I have a few hack techniques that I have discovered that will significantly increase youtube views, however these views do not register 'Most Viewed Today' honors at all. Even after applying over 100,000 hits in 24 hours to a fresh video, still nothing. This method does work to increase the 'Most Viewed Channel' honors and can get exposure that way. I find I need around 1,000,000 hits a week to get and keep my channel(s) in the top 5. However the exposure in the top channel area is not that great. With only about 4000 channel visits p/week (depending on channel name/thumbnail etc.).

Now this is where it gets interesting...

In the last few days I have found a great way to get traffic at up to 100,000 - 140,000 visits in under 24 hours (estimated 85% - 95% unique). So I redirected this traffic via .htaccess to a freshly uploaded base youtube video url and an hour or so later the views refreshed with around 12,000 views. I was getting excited especially because the video was starting to get some nice DAILY honors. Anyhow I went to bed, woke up, checked the video and the view count had refreshed to around 90,000 views except ALL the video honors were (you guessed it) GONE! Bugger! If the daily honors were still there my video would have definitely been on the most viewed front page.

So where to from here? Does a video need fake "Favorites" "Ratings" and "Comments" for the honors to stick? Is this kind of thing moderated by youtube staff or is it part of their new system?

Its one thing thats really hard to get now and thats getting on the most viewed page. If you look at your youtube insight statistics, you will see the actual views registered by youtube. I have seen some of my own videos artificially inflated to say 60k views, youtube insights showed a petty 2k views. It all depends on the quality of the traffic. I am lucky to have found a decent traffic where all the views have been counted.
I believe you need a constant supply of comments/ratings/favs etc over a period of time with a constant view increase, something like 30-40k in one day, nothing like 100k as youtube will know. I presume they are using software to track down on these things. I'm still working it out with constant research. I was also lucky to get on the most viewed today but it was only for about 5 hours in the wee hours of the morning so not much traffic.
