What is up with JR VIP?

yeah jr.vip should go back as before though but a little more req 3 months , but now 400 quality posts and 200 thanks or 300 thanks.. Forget the donor thing i am sure bhw is making alot of cash already.

ha mark do you feel it should be this way because u have over 400 posts and 200 thanks and have been a member of the forum for 3 months now?

You must be some sort of genious cos you joined May 2009. timehax?

Didn't join then, joined well over a year ago. My original account was deleted in the recent ***** attack. Clix kindly restored me to my former glory, but couldn't give me back my post count, orig join date etc. Not to worried about those things though because I try not to be post count whore etc. The date stuff is a mystery to me though.

Voting is a good idea.

Would be not too difficult to implement.

MODS AND ADMINS, HERE IS A PROCESS YOU COULD USE:

Create a questionaire and pledge, an aptitude and knowledge test of sorts. Upon successful completion of the test, and having enough required posts, candidate will be upgraded to a "Certified" orange color status and will now have access to the newly created "Applications for VIP" forum. Users will then post their applications with only their name as the title. quick links to their thanked posts and a poll with either, yes, or no. MODS, ADMINS, Exec and jr vips will then have the chance to vote on and interrogate or give a testimonal to new potentials, a minimum vote % of 80 positive should be needed for inclusion. Users are put on the chopping block for one week.

Upon acceptance, user donates and is upgraded.

Edit: By mimicing a BST atitude of quality, charge 5 dollars per application post with no garuntee of acceptance.

I think there should be some definite house cleaning on this site.

I agree with this. How it's done is the hard part.

I am not tecky in anyway but I do know marketing inside out as i have been doing it for over 20 years so getting to Jr VIP for me was important cause i have the ideas and not the technical know how - in Jr VIP there are some clever guys and when you are telling them your sensitive ideas it's important that you don't get fleeced.

That's why I believe this section needs to be tight and well controlled.

There are loads of great tecky guys in the general section but I know probably about 6 guys in here who I can trust with my ideas and know they are too busy and too straight to try and fleece me. In the general section I am not sure who I am dealing with.

just my 2c's

oscar....

yea, it is kinda ridiculous when you see a jr vip posting that they dont make any money online.

I think this entire thread is completely stupid. Isn't there always a rotten apple in every bunch? From my experience, there is always at least one.

Who is it we are upset at this week? Who will it be next week? It may be a JR VIP, a Exec VIP, or a newbie. Who knows? Nobody. We will never know who it is before hand.

It seems members here believe the higher ups have some kind of godly existence. They don't. Everybody here is just a normal human being with (maybe) some type of expertise. Few actually have any. Most wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the ground if they had both hands on it.

Just my thoughts.

Forget the donor thing i am sure bhw is making alot of cash already.

Perfect example of someone who doesn't get the point at all, and should probably be cleaned out of the forum.

Uses BHW to pimp his services, but won't chip in. (or more likely, can't)

Inflates his post count with nonsense and his thanks count by posting warez.

All his "suggestions for improvement" are transparently self-serving.

I'd never post a method where people like this had access to see it.

At least he'll never make VIP, so that's some comfort...

this is so true nev, ive noticed the changes over the passed few months and its getting beyond a joke. especially when other jr's rip other bhw members off.

its more leechers from dp and others that are in the jr zone i reckon. as this is where alot of the shit is being taken and shared elsewhere. we do need to sort sumthing out though as we cant let this carry on as it is..

The shit part of it is...it gives all Jr. VIPs a bad rep even though most of them are upstanding. Kind of discredits the title if many of them are scamming other bhw members.

Perhaps the requirements should be changed (case by case) or the rules more stringent for Jr. VIPs that commit infractions - possibly an immediate demotion.

I do agree on this, I think jr vip is being abused, but I think the voting system should be in. I for example almost never share my tactics, (just because they are too basic or too easy to duplicate) since most of my stuff is already here, I just added twists so nothing new.

My only "secret" is being able to scale things up and that's why I tend to talk to people here who I can work with and try to JV with them and of course my rep is important for that, right?

I think jr.vips should be voted off if they are just douche bags (complaining and not giving insights) also if they try to use their "jrvip" status as a means of 'trust' like saying (I will review this xxx product for you and never giving out a review) then they should be booted.

Just my 2 cents,

Catz

I agree, Member to Jr.Vip is basically like going from Teenager to Adult....
it's really common anymore.... and 80% of the people in Jr.Vip don't deserve it..

I think there should be a vote, where 4 people get voted in every month.... and those 4 people have to make a donation to recieve the status....

Actually NOT everyone can.... yeah it seems simple to you and me and a lot of us... but when I survey the situation, I think you're overestimating the capabilities of a lot of people.

Apparently it's very hard for a lot of people to make 100 posts that aren't so stupid that they're banworthy.

Staying for 60 days and contributing (instead of trying to spam some aff links and/or rip off members) seems to be tough too.

As for the $97, yeah it should be easily done by anyone who's been here for a few weeks and put in even the TINIEST effort. But since a lot of people still haven't donated, I guess there's a lot more poseurs than we realize.

Good first step to cleaning up VIP would be to retroactively enforce the donation policy... any current non-donor VIP's should be given a week or two to chip in, or be demoted.

This is a marketing forum after all, so judging members on a financial basis is more acceptable than it would be in other areas of life (or other forums with different themes).

If people won't donate $97, I can see only two reasons:

  1. They don't have it. So for that reason alone they need to work on the fundamentals, learn to make some money in their personal lives, before worrying about rank on a forum.
  2. They have it, but they don't want to contribute for whatever reason. In that case they have the wrong attitude, and a total lack of appreciation for the great forum the admins provide.
For the record yes, I know I'm an asshole for even talking about this, because I haven't been here very long and I haven't contributed any threads or uber secrets yet. (I've just been answering questions if my experience can help, and keeping my mouth shut otherwise.)

There are many non-donor VIPs who've been here a long time and gathered lots of thanks for great contributions... and if those guys are mad at me right now, I understand why and apologize for my affront.

Maybe donating used to be considered a lame way to sneak in early? If so, that conception should stop.

No, the $97 doesn't prove someone is great or competent, by any means... but it does show that they actually give a little bit of a shit about this place.

And that should be a bare minimum requirement for any perks.

I planned to save my good info shares for VIP section (and of course for my JV partners, of any level)... but if it's as bad in there as you say, I'm not going to want to.

The Donor status is a big thing for me, when it comes to trusting other members... I don't want to contribute ideas worth thousands to anybody who doesn't have the talent or inclination to pony up a measly $97. http://bible.cc/matthew/7-6.htm and all that...

I don't even want the money for myself, but if I see someone chipped in for a good cause, then I trust them a whole lot more.

If there isn't going to be a house cleaning of VIPs, then I'd at least like to see a Donors-only section... there are techniques that I don't want to make public, but I'd be happy to post there.

could'nt have said it better

I agree with a housecleaning and that lately Jr. Vip has become sloppy and not really something to aspire to. I agree with blackhatcatz too; the status should not be used for any type of leverage. This could be a motivator for the scammers/rats to make it through the cracks. Using a status to show rep/ability/trust should not be the way to go and would also perhaps deter some status-seekers. But more than that, I think the section needs some housecleaning. Getting more mods and making the community more aware I think are great starts in the right direction.

Many people try to get to JrVip expecting to found the holy grail in there. They can download scripts, pdf, even receive coaching, scam newbies, or ExecVips, but still don't get it. For me Black Hat is all about imagination, joy and programming skills, money, and now in this forum making some friends to share some thougths. I love to found holes in systems (been a h4cker first then a BH). As I'm passing 45 years old, with wife and child, my trend is to settle down. For me BH it's a long run business. I found that 70% of forums post are hit and run schemes, and 10 days later cries about banning accounts. Ok, it's natural, when I was 20 I also believed I was inmortal, it takes time to evolve and think. Always there will be good & bad apples among newbies, JrVips and ExecVips. As in life we must learn to read between lines.:rain:

It's becoming more and more obvious that JR VIP is full of douche bags. Thought i'd throw it out there that just because a perk is given, doesnt mean it cant be taken away.

Executive VIP's and Mods have been drummed out for being losers, and the same should happen in JR VIP.

Maybe there should be a senior VIP added as an additional level for proven members not yet invited up to VIP, I don't know.

It just seems that way too many idiots are abusing that forum and maybe it's time to start knocking tons of people back down.

Maybe a vote system like for executive VIP, or a group of more trusted JR VIPS and Execs that would be willing to review posts from potential members to see if they are worthy of moving up.

Any JR VIP should be able to start a poll thread voting to kick out a member. If it gets the votes, done deal.

I was going to suggest this exact same idea, but felt it wasn't my place. I agree 100%

I feel Jr. VIP should literally be wiped clean. zero members. Then make it a vote based invite only like ExecVIP is, but just allow more people in.

lol vote for jr.vip is out of hand lol they must have experience on bhw and have contributed which can see by the amouny of thanks . maybe 300 ? 400? i dont know lol just suggestion and you guys let the jr.vip rules go back ! have this kicking out for spammers nevarc's idea is ultimate i like it ! dont you realise most od the rediculous voting ideas for jvr.vip alone came from those who ere already jr.vip....... that's being plain selfish .

I don't hate you or anything Mark, but I'm going to have to disagree with you. The Jr VIPs are agreeing with voting because we're trying to secure our safety and exclusivity of being a Jr VIP. If we vote then it's less likely that a spammer or scammer would get in because everyone has a say on why or why not that person should be a Jr VIP. Donating is also a good idea because it shows who can make enough money in order to even donate the $97 which I'm sure is a hefty fee for newbs who are just starting out (unless they already have the funding, in which we'd weed them out through voting). I don't think anyone is being selfish here, we're just trying to uphold what it means to be Jr VIP.

I don't think anyone is being selfish here, we're just trying to uphold what it means to be Jr VIP.

Which is what, exactly?

There's a shit load of hot air in this thread which largely seems to centre round 2 things. 1. People who have been ripped off / scammed by others who hold Jr VIP status. 2. People who haven't got the patience to attain Jr VIP by the prescribed methods.

In the first case you can post to the Shit List and complain to the mods. But getting screwed isn't limited to getting screwed by Jr VIPs (as the Shit List shows) so it's a complete red herring. If you are dumb enough to get screwed by anyone then you are really not Jr VIP material anyway, are you?

And if you haven't got the patience to get to Jr VIP then stay out. You won't be missed.

Bottom line - getting Jr VIP status isn't something wonderful. It allows you to get into a small section of this forum where - sometimes - there are posts shared that people want to keep within a small audience. In particular, they may not want the noobs of this world to blast information elsewhere. That's pretty much it.

The donation thing is irrelevant - except that maybe there should be an additional requirement of some activity before a donation is allowed to get someone straight in. It's a bit like buying a peerage in the UK or Obama's place now he's been promoted - not supposed to happen but it does.

So, why all the fuss?

everything burns

but seriously, i think staff members will handle that properly, this forum is well organized.
there are some good options mentioned imho and they will make the right move :)

just dont get too pissed off or whatever right now..

There have been alot of scammers and other problems in the last three months even in Jr VIP. I think that has caused us to loose trust in each other. BHW is a great community we need to stop fighting with each other, instead focus on fighting the scammers.
