What is up with JR VIP?

Please point out who. A lot of people lost their real accounts during that last ***** attack, so they had to create new accounts, and we had to locate some of their old info and credit their new accounts with donor/Jr. VIP status/post count where required.

Also, way back, before we locked things up, people were pretty much allowed in just by donating a small fee.

What's wrong with Jr. VIP? Look within.

It is possible for a user to be promoted to jr vip fast if he has great quality posts.

alliskorn brings up another good point. We've promoted a few people to Jr. VIP based on the shares they've provided. If we decide something should be in the Jr. VIP section, we move the thread and promote the OP on a trial basis. As long as they behave, they're allowed to stay.

I hope these new changes don't involve exclusion of members like myself? Thats my only real criticism of this place, I feel like my membership isn't set in stone (eg it could get banned fairly easily) until I've got my foot sufficiently in the door (which probably means hitting a few hundred posts or getting a jr vip next to my name).

Yeah I definatly agree that there should be some sort of vetting process for jr vip's, when I first got here I looked up to them assuming they have some superior knowledge, don't get me wrong a number of them do, but for everybody who does I'd say theres atleast a few who are fairly clueless.

Jr. Vip can get banned just as easy as you [some have already]

Read the rules, Follow them, and you are as secure as anyone, enjoy your stay!

True... but I think what I mentioned before in this thread still holds true. $97 is nothing to you and me and a lot of other people here, basically to anyone with the tiniest bit of IM talent, or even an IM newb with an old-world job.

Because it's nothing for us, we might forget that $97 poses a practically insurmountable obstacle to the talentless hacks. Like viva said, it's ridiculous if a VIP is posting that they don't make any money online.

Ditto for the scammers... if they're just here to rip people off, I doubt they'll pay $97 to do it. If they had that much foresight, they wouldn't be scammers.

You're right, money alone as a test is too simplistic... but like in security, if you layer several simple procedures, you can come up with a good solid system.

That's why I like the new rules... $97 + 60days + 100posts. Kinda sucks for me because I think I'd be Jr. VIP by now, under the rules as they were when I donated. But I'm planning to be here for the long term, so a few more weeks doesn't matter to me.

But I'm not expecting some magical wonderland in VIP section, I just want it to be nice like Clix said... a little island away from the AMs.

And with any luck, away from the scumbags who will take techniques that cool members post for free, and try to sell them as ebooks on DP. And of course from scammers of all sorts.

I understand there's always a risk, and some people will turn out to suck, but I'm confident they'll be uncovered and booted. Nothing's perfect but I have a lot more faith in this place, than in any other forum I've seen.

I don't really care about the status aspect of VIP, I feel a lot better about big paychecks than I do about any rank.

P.S. Ok I checked to see if I was being honest with myself. I guess it's not true to say that I don't want VIP or that I don't care about having it... but seriously I think the main reason I care isn't the special access, or extra downloads...

Every single other color is better... hell, even the banned dudes get that awesome red color... they're so lucky!

You can be banned at any time, even after 100 posts; or even after making Jr, Exec, or Mod. I think that's a good thing about this place... no one above the law (or the code, as it were).

Like I'm sure I'll pop off at the mouth at the wrong times and piss people off (why should a forum be any different than real life?) but I'm not afraid that I'll get banned, because I don't do the real bad shit like stealing or scamming.

I read the rules and they seem like common sense, too liberal if anything.

Now if there was some rule against expressing my opinions about people doing dumb stuff... boy would I be in big trouble! If anything though, that seems to make me fit in better round here.

I trust that HaRRo and the other VIP's and mods will take care of the situation.

you know, i remember when it first changed to people being able to pay to get into jr. vip and i posted a suggestion being pissed that i EARNED my right to be there and i couldnt be there now because now id have to pay(which i wont because its the principle of it all (yes 97 is measely to me). i earned my right over and over again and been screwed over and over again by people on bhw, and ofcourse my help and efforts were never noticed on this forum by the people who matter, nor were my emails to support about a few things) and everyone bashed me for that suggestion too.......

Executive VIP's and Mods have been drummed out for being losers, and the same should happen in JR VIP.

Maybe a vote system like for executive VIP, or a group of more trusted JR VIPS and Execs that would be willing to review posts from potential members to see if they are worthy of moving up.

Any JR VIP should be able to start a poll thread voting to kick out a member. If it gets the votes, done deal.
