If I get it right then you are talking about this - C > A + B > C. It's a common practice now for guest posting. Like if I don't want to pay, then I offer the webmaster a link instead of money. In that case, I have two websites A & B. I want to take a link from the site C. In return; I will give a link from my Site B to his domain. So C will link back to my site A, and I will link to C from my site B as a return. So both parties will be benefitted also keep yourself safe from the reciprocal links.

It can be done in many ways creating reciprocal cycle as well. It depends on how you want to do it.
