What is this function called and what photo editing software offers it?

Hi everyone, I have many photos that I need to amend in bulk.

The photos are of various sizes but I only want to cut out (and save) a certain portion of the photo. This portion would always be of a fix dimension eg. 100px by 100px so that they are of the optimal size to fit into my wordpress theme.

In other words, even if the original photos are of different sizes, their final size that is cut out would still be 100px x 100px.

Is there a photo editing software (preferably free) that allows me to easily do this in bulk?

gsa indexer website got a good picture finder with powerfull edittor ask them .
 
Photoshop is the best software for Photo editing. You can go with Photoshop.

Try gimp, it's free. Remember if it can be done with Photoshop it can be done with gimp. Plenty of tutorials to do it with gimp for free

Does gimp offer content aware fill? Does it offer photo merge? How about camera raw filter? Curious to see if I can switch to gimp ever lol.

Thank you but that only resizes files, it does not allow me to crop. To be clear, I want to crop parts of various images such that they are all of the same size.

Thanks for the reply. Yeap, that's the word I was looking for Batch Cropping! Can I just clarify, the link you posted shows me how to batch resize but doesn't show me how to batch crop. Am I missing something?

Google will help there, I use it but I'm not expert with it, I bought the manual from Amazon and never read it as it was so thick lol! Whatever can be done with Photoshop can be done with gimp. Lots of tutorials on YouTube, as op is looking for preferred free, I suggested it

I don't think any of these features are supported in gimp (except for content aware fill may be, from what I googled), but I know that the same results can be obtained using the basic tools. That's not the point though. Lot's of people use photoshop because of the convenience. e.g. the content aware tool can fix bad patches in a picture in about 3 seconds, and it's damn accurate most of the times. For someone who is just starting out, gimp can do the job though.
 
Install Photoshop trail version for 30 days and you can edit images how many you want within that trail period.
In photoshop you can use Batch automate option, that will automate your image editing if you have more numbers.
Thing you need is basic idea in photoshop tools, then this automate will be really useful to edit 1000's of images in few seconds.
This is really interesting features in photoshop.

30 days or 7 days? Mine had 7 days trial, and not 30 days. Have you tried this before?
 
Adobe Photoshop cs5 version have 30days trail period. For latest version we have only 7 days.
 
Photoshop isn't free but I'm sure you can find a torrent somewhere.

Especially for an old version like CS2.

Batch process and you'll be good to go.

And Photoshop is expensive and takes a lot of time to learn, my point was op preferred free as he said, it's not about which is best, of course Photoshop is top, quick Google search found a tutorial for batch editing with gimp

You have smart cropping in Faststone IMage resizer and it can do it in batches.
