What is this called and what are the consequences?

1 - Main Blog - www.WHATEVER.com
2 - Sub-Domain Blogs - SUBDOMAIN.WHATEVER.com

What if I use my own blogs as comment locations for backlinks to my main money blogs?

Would that work? What would be the consequences if I did that?

That wouldn't work very well because all the links come from the same domain and the ip address.

Depends a lot on your market, competitors, if your blogs were separated or not, etc.

What you would want to avoid is having your "link farm" blogs in their own bubble with no incoming links and only linking to your main sites. Then it's obvious over time that those sites are cut off from the rest of the internet and they won't rank as well.
