I currently own a .xyz domain. I use this domain solely for personal email and have no plans to launch a website.

However, it's also true that .xyz domains are being abused by spammers due to their cheap marketing tactics. Since my registrar (Njalla) raised the annual fee for .xyz from 15 EUR to 30 EUR, I'm considering migrating to another domain.

What I'm looking for is the ability to get a good string and high email deliverability.

My .xyz domain is a common first-name string in my country, and I really like that I was able to get it. So even if I switch TLDs, I'd want to keep the same name.

For example, how is .pro from a deliverability standpoint? Is .pro abused by spammers like .xyz? I've also heard that .link is exploited by spammers—what are your thoughts on this?

Not sure if spam filters pay attention to the TLD, but it’s definitely possible. If they do, then ccTLDs (like .es, .fr, .de) and general extensions (.com, .net, .org) are likely the safest choices.

Either way, always check the domain’s history in the Wayback Machine. Extensions like .xyz, .link, .buzz, .lol, and others are often used for doorway sites. You could accidentally end up with one of those.

WHAT .... THE.... F**K ?!?! 30 Euros for a .xyz ??? Nah, man, you're getting ripped off, I'd not pay more than $5 for a .xyz unless my life depended on it :)

For my personal email I am using a .top domain.... well, I've not shared my personal email with anybody yet, so I'm not getting any emails :p ... But the point is that you can get WAY better domains than .xyz ... and definitely for way cheaper too. You are getting sooooo ripped off :D

.xyz is currently one of the most affordable domain extensions. I recommend checking with your registrar to understand why the renewal price increased.

As for .pro, it's also a low-cost domain. Neither .xyz nor .pro were originally associated with spam — it really depends on how the domain is used and the content hosted on the site.

Alternatively, .me is popular for personal branding and individual use.
until few months ago I owned a .me domain for my own name (so, something like tazarbm.me, but it was my actual real name instead of tazarbm, of course). But then I found out that .me is the country code for Montenegro, so I let the domain expire :(

So yeah, if you're thinking of using a .me domain name for your own name you might get into troubles at some point, so be careful!

.xyz domains have extremely low initial registration costs, but renewal fees tend to be slightly higher than .com or .net domains.
The xyz registry's business model perfectly suits disposable one-year domain usage. This makes it very convenient for spammers.

I use a certain free email service. On that service's servers, SpamAssassin is running.
SpamAssassin has a feature called KAM_SOMETLD_ARE_BAD_TLD that increases the spam score for emails sent from certain TLDs. Those TLDs are as follows:
.bar, .beauty, .buzz, .cam, .casa, .cfd, .club, .date, .guru, .link, .live, .monster, .press, .pw, .quest, .rest, .sbs, .shop, .stream, .top, .trade, .wiki, .work, .xyz

Additionally, there is another feature called KAM_INFOUSMEBIZ. This is a similar function that includes the following TLDs: .biz, .id, .info, .life, .me, .me.uk, .rocks, .us, .xyz

SpamAssassin's developers seem to believe these TLDs are being abused for spam and malware. Particularly for .xyz, the spam score is doubled.

I disagree with SpamAssassin's approach and think including this many domains is excessive, but in reality, it's something to keep in mind since such mail servers exist.

use .com tld for emails it will be easy to remember and more professional
