What is the "minimum" PR for 301 redirect?

I am trying to rank for niches with very low competition and I thinking about buying domains to use for 301 redirect. What is the minimum PR I should focus on? Obviously the higher is better, but I do not want to waste my money since my budget for SEO is not very big. Is PR 4 enough? Or is it an overkill and I can do with PR 2? How many domains should I redirect?

Information about my keywords:
Monthly searches ~3000
CPC ~$1.50
Low competition

Look at the domains link structure not just PR. See if the domain has edu,gov links, other high pr links. Don't buy fishy PR4 domain with junk backlinks, it will only harm your site...

Forget about PR, just look at the link sources. If they have a reasonable diversity, and they're 'clean', they're all good. I usually buy them at closeout for $10

Scrape godaddy auctions.
Even a pr 1 will help , but all depends upon the {link juice|google trust} that domain carry.

Thanks. I thought you just go for the highest PR available and hope for the best. I don't know what I was thinking.

Link profile and age are the 2 main factors when doing the 301. I saw great results with 8+ years old domains.

Compare the domains backlinks with those ranking at the top for your keyword and pick what seems to be better than them.
