What is The Legality of This?

Hi BHW,I come to you asking for some information of what the legality of my method is. Now I know this is BHW but i just want to know what im getting into before hand.

So what I am doing is getting traffic to my site that advertises you can get (insert latest movie title is) here to download. I never say free or anything like that. But instead of linking to an illegal site,I link to an affiliate link for a service like Netflix. Is this legal to do? Im not linking to anything copyrighted so I dont think it would be.

What is your opinion?

lots of people do it.... i would actually try something else.

i don't know if it would be that successful though. maybe someone who has tried it can let you know.

but people who are looking to download movies are actually wanting something for free. i think them signing up to netflix or whatever might be a bit of a stretch.

about it being legal or not, i don't know.

edit: but yeah, i just read what you wrote again. and even though you aren't going to say for free or anything, most people do want it for free.

But just to fruit for thought, is it legal?

i think it's legal, but i'm not a lawyer or anything... i personally don't see anything wrong with it.

then that falls under false advertisement, which is someone actually persue you they can probably fine you, but that a long strecth alot of people do this in cpa world.

Now this is a stretch cause the likly hood is it will not happen, but if you false advertise you can be held accountable according to your local laws, state laws, country law, whatever applies to you . you will have to google it but understand this you are not the seller you are the affiliate so the chance that they come for you is slim , they will purchase what they purchase cause they want and if they dont like the service product they most likely will just ask for a refund and get their money back. usually what happens

I was confused by this, I thought of false advertising. But the offer im promoting is a free,download offer. No credit card would be involved,would that still be considered false advertising?

I wouldn't be worried about the false advertising as much as the entertainment company possibly coming after you. I doubt anything would happen tho, and I am sure they would ask nice before they just threw their attorneys into it. I would go for it.

I dont actually have the copyrighted footage...lol could they just ask me to take down the post ?

Naw man in this case you wouldn't be a candidate for false advertisement, but now your cpa company TOS might frown upon misleading content and ban you.

Honestly, there wouldn't be enough to hit you with anything. But as was already mentioned, it's not worth it because it wouldn't convert.

So how about this senerio. Sorry,lol I'm paranoid.

So lets say i put up a YouTube video with the title " Watch (newest movie title in theaters) here! No P2P! 100% legal!"

I link to my site with my free CPA offer that says in its description watch the latest movies.
But there wouldn't be anything to download.

That would be 100% legal right?

million of people do this and you have nothing to worry about

It's a snowballs chance in hell you'd getting prosecuted for something like this..it aint gonna happen so don't sweat it - worse case scenario is you get complaints and then account banned and even that is a long shot
