I own both and use both.

Micro Niche Finder is like marketing for noobs. If you're happy with a little green dot telling you to pursue a niche, then you're all set.

Market Samurai layouts everything out for you in much greater detail. It shows you a chart of the first page results for a keyword you've entered. It's all horribly vague if your a noob, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes an art - or something akin to reading tea leaves. If the niche tanks, then you can only blame yourself, not some little green dot. :)

Like I said, I use both. Micro Niche Finder allows you to hop around keyword searches and "search sideways" faster than you can with MS. I also like the .com/.net/.org domain availability checker. I'll use this first to find an available keyword and domain that matches, then I'll load my freshly discovered keyword into Market Samurai and REALLY look at the competition. What's also nice with MS is the rank checker. Once you've built a site, you can check it SERP with Google/Yahoo, etc.
