What is the difference between "Do Follow" and "No Follow"...?

Most of the guys think only do-follow links boost their site's SEO, which is a misconception. Remember, Google likes variety in backlinks the most. Therefore, the best idea is to create a backlinks profile which includes both do-follow and no-follow links. Hope you understand what I'm talking about. Thanks.
