There are thousands of themes to choose... Why would someone invest $1k in custom WP theme? If you have a budget of 1k for a theme
get a custom built lightweight CMS theme that isn't built on wordpress.
If you want wordpress as your CMS, get generatepress and someone to customize the shit outta it
lol. There are thousands of themes to choose... Why would someone invest $1k in custom WP theme?
Some of you really love to make it harder...lol.
there are a million reasons why you would want a custom-coded theme/CMS.
Some quick reasons are
- You know 100% what's underneath and it's not self-dependent on the author.
- Ideal for complex scopes & future growth
- If an author stops development, you gonna have to hop to another theme?
- Limitless customization
- Uniqueness, one of it's kind
- You can add things much easier to it and making sure it's not bloated as opposed to adding plugins ontop just to do xyz.
- You ain't dependent on wordpress, how many people refused to update their WP CMS cuz of the new updates/changes. LOTS, your theme; will it continue supporting older versions, maybe, new bugs/security issues that will emerge probably won't be fixed...
Wordpress is bloated, doesn't matter how much you cut it down, it will never beat a well-written custom CMS
Risk vs Gains for everything mate. Some of you really love to make it harder...
For blogging you don't need a custom CMS or template at all. There are a tons of lightweight themes for WP, Drupal, or pure HTML and tons of successfull sites built on WP (TheChrunch, TheNewYorker) as well...
At what cost?Risk vs Gains for everything mate.
Doesn't mean it's harder, can be as easily as hiring someone to take care of everything for you.
