What is the Best computer for graphic design.?

The best one as far as Mac or PC is the one you're the most familiar with- so you're more likely to learn the shortcuts and so on. By the way, Lynda has the best tutorials that I've found, and even though I use a PC (and it seems all the professionals on there and otherwise) use a Mac, other posts where I wondered the same thing also mentioned it's down to preferance these days. Just invest in a nice video card and a good upgrade of RAM whatever you use...

I don't feel you need a speedy pc or a mac to create graphics, anything with 4gb ram and a 500gb+ harddrive should do the job.

What type of graphic design are you doing? Print, web, video, animation, 3D, gaming?

There's lots of different types.
But anyway, I would recommend Intel over AMD if you're going for pc, simply because I don't feel AMD have kept up with things.

whats your choice guys..? Designers on BHW please share your experience..

Most Professional Designers still use Macs, although these days if you have a high-end PC it shouldn't matter.

It really depends and what you actually want to do and what software you want to run.

Custom built i7, 16gb ram, ssd, Quadro, etc.

It's best to build your own computer for this type of work. For the processor you'll at least want an i5, though an i7 would be ideal. 8GB RAM minimum, preferably 16GB. 1-2TB Hard drive should do for this if you're doing a lot of work. You'll also want a graphics card with at least 2GB memory and a decent monitor.

I've heard from others that photoshop just seems to work more smoothly with Macs (however I'm a PC guy).

i5, 8gigs of ram, gtx560 and at no point have I noticed my computer struggle with lightroom or PS elements. You'll save money getting a high spec custom built PC and it'll do the job just as well.

macbook pro is my favorite, especially with retina display. Awesome quality.

unless you are going for really big projects, any computer bought within the last two years will do just fine

I stopped doing graphic design about six months ago after my Mac Book Pro crashed. I have a PC now and it's not even a fair competition. I'm looking forward to replacing it next month.

Do you need a Mac for design projects? No, but it certainly makes things much easier.

With the Adobe Creative Suite now in the clouds I think you will find that the platform is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

I like MacBook Pro, but this system comes just with his specifications. The creativity it's not included in the price :)

+1 WizGizmo

It's not the tools, it's the person using them.

You don't need anything too crazy, I have a nice desktop I built at home that does wonders for video editing (1TB of video files on an External Hard Drive), but for Photoshop and Illustrator, just a run of the mill laptop suits me just fine. Look into getting a tablet if you want to get far in Photoshop.

If its photoshop, it just dont need a high configuartion computer unless u r working on high resolution printing designs.A core 13 processor with atleast 4 gb ram is fine.

You then have i5, mid range and then i7 which is the highest range.
Ideally you want to go for the 3rd generation models.

Depends on many factors, how long to you want some thing to be rendered, are you going to do 3d. But for many things 500 pc (i mean custom built) should be sufficient
