A reliable custom SMTP is your way to go. I can't recommend any right now to avoid being promotional but I'm sure there are tons of solutions in the forum. You just have to find it with maybe the search button.

is it not better to use an online service with different Proxies/IPs? if you use a local software its very easy to detect as Spam.

i have no experience with bulk email sending. I know only the security perspecitve and if your domain or IP is on a blacklist, your E-Mails are very fast in the Spam-Folder.
This its also a problem which have many Newsletter and Web Hosting companies if the Server IP have a bad reputation.
