User experience and relevance, not just keywords. It's about solving search intent.
I agree with your insight!A lot of SEO discussions jump straight into keywords, content, or links, but I think many issues start earlier than that.
From what I’ve seen, SEO isn’t really about pushing traffic, chasing keywords, or forcing rankings. Those are outcomes, not the thing being optimized.
In practice, SEO seems to be about alignment.
Alignment between what users are searching for, how a site is structured, how topics are covered, and how signals support that structure.
When this alignment is missing, even good content or strong links tend to underperform. When it’s in place, progress feels much more predictable, even with moderate effort.
I’m curious how others here frame this at a higher level.
Interested to hear different perspectives, especially from those working on varied niches and competitive spaces.
- What do you see SEO actually optimizing at its core
- What do you think SEO is often mistaken for
- Where do most projects go wrong before tactics even come into play
Yes, but content IS king. At least in my experience I haven't found something that ranks you faster than high quality content. Backlinks and everything else come second.Same boat here man. The amount of conflicting info out there is insane. One guy says backlinks are king, next guy says content is everything, then someone else comes in saying its all about technical seo now.
What I've started doing is just testing small stuff myself instead of taking anyones word for it. Slower but at least I know whats actually working
